Aimé Leon Dore is gearing up for yet another collaborative release with New Balance. This time around, however, the New York-based brand has worked on a seemingly forgotten silhouette in the P550 Basketball Oxford.
ALD founder Teddy Santis took to Instagram this week to tease the upcoming collab. As Santis points out, the New Balance P550 is mysterious in the sense that after its debut in 1989, it has remained virtually untouched, and there is little background information on the sneaker.
“Took us a couple years and a lot of work to bring this shoe back,” he said on social media. “Everything about the 550’s and what they represented felt like this would be the perfect romance to activate SONNY and the ALD grassroots basketball program.”
Santis and Aimé Leon Dore’s New Balance P550 is seen in a clean white and grey colorway, with yellowed accents that give it a vintage feel. New Balance’s signature “N” branding is featured on the side of the low-top shoe, while co-branding appears on the tongue tag.
This is all we have on Aimé Leon Dore’s latest New Balance collaboration for now, but be sure to check back with us for additional details, including release info.

Reintroducing the P550 Basketball Oxfords. They were originally released in 1989 and haven’t been touched since. The silhouette has been something of an enigma — almost impossible to find information on it. Took us a couple years and a lot of work to bring this shoe back. Everything about the 550’s and what they represented felt like this would be the perfect romance to activate SONNY and the ALD grassroots basketball program. Major hat tip to the whole NB team for giving us this runway and believing in the vision. 🌎❤️
