5 Times Kerby Jean-Raymond Proved He’s Perfect for Reebok

Kerby Jean-Raymond

Kerby Jean-Raymond founded his label Pyer Moss in 2013. The American-Haitian designer has since gone on to win several awards, one of which was Collaboration of the Year at the Footwear News Achievement Awards for his collaboration under Pyer Moss with Reebok. After several attention-grabbing collabs with Reebok, the most recent line in Jean-Raymond’s CV reads ‘Global Creative Director at Reebok.’

To celebrate this big move, we hit the net to round up our favorite Kerby Jean-Raymond-designed Reebok sneakers. From the futuristic Trail Fury to the retro-tinged Mobius Experiment 3, each of these designs is a beauty in its own right, but they may also give us a road map for what lies in store in the future for Reebok.

Talk about contrast, the Daytona Experiment marries one of the sneaker world’s most classic colorways — white and green — with a much less classic hidden-laces upper. Chalk leather uppers feature two flashes of color: a red insert to the top box, and the triangular, green pull tab to the heel.

Released in early 2019, the Experiment 4 Trail Fury is a definite statement of intent. There are no half measures, from the industrial, chunky silhouette to the angular panels of the upper and flashes of bright color, this design is bold and brash, but beautiful.

From the unflinching brutalism of the Trail Fury, the DMX Run Fusion Experiment feels almost understated. Save, of course, for the intricate, full-length lacing system that blends toggles and rope laces as it wraps around the heel.

The Reebok Mobius is steeped in history, being one of the defining basketball silhouettes of the ’90s. The unmistakable, waving upper alternates between black and white, keeping things classic while also making a strong impact. Jean-Raymond’s laceless interpretation of the style features a supple suede upper for a touch of luxury.

It’s not s a collaboration with Reebok, but we couldn’t not include the Pyer Moss Sculpt sneaker, the first of the label’s footwear. The bulbous sole unit in bright yellow is impossible to forget, and the suede, leather, and canvas uppers perfectly blend athletic style with luxury detailing. If this is anything to go by, the future is very bright for Reebok.
