Sean Wotherspoon, Jeff Staple, and YEEZY’s Steven Smith are looking for the next big sneaker designer. The trio, along with several other industry leaders, have been tapped to judge Prospect 100’s global sneaker design competition, which is taking place from now through November 6.
Aspiring designers aged 25 and under are encouraged to submit a completely original sneaker design through prospect100.com. All submissions will then be judged by Wotherspoon, Staple, Smith, and other insiders including colette co-founder Sarah Andelman, Midnight Studios creative director Shane Gonzales, Sporty and Rich creative director Emily Oberg, art curator Ruba Abu-Nimah, artists Ketnipz and Trouble Andrew aka GucciGhost, Luka Sabbat, Evan Mock, and Highsnobiety’s own David Fischer.
The overall winner of the competition, to be announced on November 14, will receive personal mentorship with sneaker icon, Jeff Staple. Others will be offered internships with various brands, which will be made known at a later date.
“Our goal is to provide valuable real life opportunities to ambitious and passionate young people around the world at a time when it is needed the most,” said Alexandre Daillance aka Millinsky, creative director of NASASEASONS and one-third of Prospect 100. “I would have loved to enter this type of competition when I was younger and I can’t wait to see the submissions we will be receiving throughout the month.”
The sneaker design competition follows Prospect 100’s past two competitions in the fields of music and innovation. You can find out more about the footwear contest by visiting prospect100.com.
