Stüssy unveiled its SS21 lookbook yesterday, which gave fans of the brand a first look at what will be dropping in the coming months. Those with a keen eye will have noticed that the lookbook featured Stüssy’s 2000 collaboration with Nike, two colorways of the Huarache LE.
The Stüssy x Nike Huarache LE debuted over 20 years ago and was the first (unofficial) collaboration between the two companies. The sneakers were a project between Nike’s Fraser Cooke and Stüssy UK’s Michael Koppleman and were released in limited numbers at Stüssy UK chapter store.
The sneakers subsequently sold out and became one of the hottest properties on the market, basically kickstarting the brand x retailer collaboration formula we have become so accustomed to over the years.
Both colorways’ inclusion in the lookbook seems to suggest a retro could be on the cards this season, though that is far from confirmed. Nike and Stüssy have dropped multiple collaborations over the last 12 months, including two colorways of the Nike Air Force 1, Air Zoom Kukini, and Zoom Spiridon Caged 2.
