Vans Is Ramping Up the Collabs & More in Today’s Sneaker News 27

Sneakerheads are bombarded with news of upcoming releases on a daily basis. To save you some time from searching each and every site and leak account, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to sift through the onslaught and bring you a few noteworthy kicks that have captured our attention.

Today, we’re taking a look at the new Vans collaboration from Los Angeles-based brand, Kids of Immigrants. A followup to their debut footwear release, the new project centers around the iconic Old Skool, arriving in celebration of KOI’s five-year anniversary celebration. With no shortage of co-branded efforts on the way, Vans also has a collab with C2H4 in the works, this one featuring the Old Skool as well, in addition to the Era.

In other sneaker news, ASICS‘ long-distance runner, the GEL-NIMBUS 23, is now available in a more sustainable iteration constructed from recycled materials. PUMA is then celebrating the release of J. Cole’s new album, The Off-Season, with a bright red colorway of DREAMER 2, going by the same name. And lastly, Reebok continues to revive original colorways of Allen Iverson’s Question model, as the low-top “Grey Toe” colorway is returning in just a matter of days.

Where to Buy: Kids of Immigrants and Greenhouse

Editor’s Notes: The second footwear collaboration between Kids of Immigrants and Vans serves to celebrate the LA brand’s fifth anniversary, as well as the community that nurtures the label. The project finds the classic Old Skool sneaker emerging in a mismatched look, ultimately blending two classic colorways into one style. Featuring a double tongue and an aged sole, the sneaker incorporates the message: “We Are All Cut From Different Fabrics But Together Make A Whole.”

Editor’s Notes: Whether for performance or for style, you can’t go wrong with the GEL-NIMBUS 23 from ASICS. The low-top model is noticeably lightweight and breathable, and is made for long runs – or – strolling comfortably around town, if you prefer. This particular iteration of the shoe is distinctive, however, as it is constructed from recycled materials, coinciding with ASICS’ sustainability initiative.

Editor’s Notes: The next original colorway of the Reebok Question Low to return is the ultra-clean “Grey Toe” pair. The neutral rendition follows the recent release of the “Green Toe” Question Low, and it will be available initially through Packer on May 21. It has yet to be confirmed, but a wider release is expected, reportedly taking place on June 10.

Editor’s Notes: Yixi Chen‘s C2H4 is currently prepping the release of a new Vans collaboration, one that includes the Old Skool and Era. While little to no information has been given at this time, the brand has, however, shared that a campaign is coming soon. From the teaser, we see the Old Skool offered in what appears to be a black denim-like material, while the Era features a lighter sail-colored upper with an all-over print. You’ll want to stay tuned for more surrounding the C2H4 x Vans release.

Editor’s Notes: Two of J. Cole’s passions collide (music and basketball) in an upcoming release of the DREAMER 2 from PUMA. Arriving in celebration of the rapper’s long-awaited new album, The Off-Season, this fiery red colorway of the hoops shoes goes by the same name. Look for the sneaker to release on May 21 for $130.
